Case study
Decide whether a sample experiment should continue, change or stop. Check complaints and evidence quality as well as the positive result, using the rules set before the test.
The product choice: Keep the original success and harm limits in force when the headline looks attractive. Try the sample · Follow the walkthrough.
Experience and decision
My Oracle work included online evaluation, A/B testing and interleaving with specialist partners. This example focuses on the product decision after results arrive: whether the evidence justifies continuing. This is a separate fictional portfolio exercise; its records, rules and results do not reproduce an employer system.
Decision to challenge: Would I still proceed if the positive headline came with more complaints? The original success and harm rules need to remain visible, and a technically valid result still needs product judgment.
User and decision
A product manager must explain why a headline gain is insufficient to proceed. Experiment Verdict makes the whole decision contract visible: completion, complaint guardrail, allocation and exposure quality, uncertainty, and limits. The reviewer chooses a verdict and cites specific evidence before committing an immutable snapshot.
Prioritization and tradeoff
The central choice is to keep the original rule as the proceed gate even when a reviewer explores a post-result threshold. A flexible spreadsheet alternative is easier to change but can obscure which rules preceded the result. Here, a relaxed revision remains visibly exploratory and is preserved next to the original.
Demonstrated outcome and guardrails
The deliberately difficult fixture has +8 percentage points completion and +3 points complaints. The original complaint upper bound exceeds +1 point. A reviewer can stop or request another test; the headline cannot unlock proceed. Two invalid quality fixtures and a small sample show why apparently positive numbers may not support inference.
Recovery preserves the decision trail: invalid saved work requires explicit reset, an outdated preview cannot commit, and unsaved work carries a reload warning. Withdrawal retains the original evidence and adds a reason.
Evidence and ownership
Mo supplies Product / Program Management direction and portfolio scope. Codex generated the app, original fictional fixtures, product documents and automated tests. Software checks do not establish reviewer comprehension, human validation, commercial impact, real experiment results, or manual coding by Mo.
Proposed study: ask reviewers to recognize invalid evidence, identify harm despite the headline, explain uncertainty and segment limits, then record a consistent verdict. Observe correctness, time to a justified decision, evidence-reference quality, and recovery comprehension. This study has not been run.
Next investment decision
Before adding more statistical views or automated recommendations, ask product reviewers to explain a proceed case, the harmful +8/+3 case and an invalid-quality case without prompts. Compare their evidence-based rationale with a simple results table. If they can complete the form but cannot explain why original rules still govern, strengthen the decision explanation rather than automate the verdict. Real investment would also require a trustworthy assignment/exposure pipeline, a measurement owner and a declared cost of another test relative to potential harm. The sample supports review discipline; it neither runs an experiment nor certifies its causal result.
