Product brief

The decision

A program lead coordinating a fictional Northstar community learning pilot must decide which recovery to authorize when a partner's data pack delays a shared readiness commitment. The observable outcome is an exception brief that names the upstream cause, changed commitments, accountable decision owner and residual risk.

Four workstreams can look locally healthy while a shared prerequisite changes their finish. The lead needs causal visibility before agreeing a date. Changing the calendar alone conceals the decision about scope, sequencing, evidence quality or added cost.

Principal alternative

A status dashboard with independent red/amber/green flags is simpler but does not explain which handoff caused a missed commitment or which work can safely proceed. Program Atlas instead connects deliverables, computes consequences, and requires explicit confirmation of a bounded proposal. The recommendation is provisional: scope reduction is viable only if the decision owner accepts a smaller pilot outcome.

Boundaries

No real schedules, staffing optimizer, defense data, certifications, EVM, notifications, live integrations or delivery predictions. The weekday calendar, fixed durations and unlimited shared capacity are teaching assumptions. There is no human research or observed comprehension evidence. Mo's product discussion and personal review remain open.

Evaluation proposed

Ask a program lead to identify the delayed predecessor, explain the changed commitment, choose a recovery and name its residual risk. Measure causal accuracy and completeness separately from task completion. No evaluation participants have been recruited or observed.
